What an eventful day one!!!! GAETI 2017 is just like USPS whether rain, sleet, or hail -- they deliver. Although, the rain prevented some of our outside activities, we persevered.  The morning started out with introductions of both faculty and GAETI 2017 participants.  I found myself being in a crossroads as I teach two subjects, and trying to equally obtain information about both subject areas. The afternoon was filled with several different aspects.  I was introduced to two new programs. 1) I was introduced to MAGNOLIA, which is a database search engine.  We were taught how to use MAGNOLIA in the classroom, and even how different lesson plans are available through the site. MAGNOLIA is a state funded program, and users may gain access through their local public library. 2) BLOG was the next program that I was introduced to.  I have never used the program before and found it quite interesting.  We are going to see where this leads.  I think that this would be a great tool to use in the classroom with students in lieu of Facebook.

Day Eighteen

Today began with a synopsis of how the rest of the week would go, and then we began working on setting up our OWN business.  Our team decided to develop an Afterschool Tutoring program named Full Circle Learning. After lunch, Dr. Straughter came in to discuss how we as educator should take care of ourselves.  We took an assessment on our overall wellness.  It determined that my compassion satisfaction is high and that my burnout and secondary trauma level were low. We ended the day with a global perspective talk with a native of Brazil.

Day Seven

Today began with us creating a geological timeline.  I thought this was rather interesting to see how much of Earth's history has just been developed in the last 65 million years, and that the history from 65 million years ago to 4,600,000,000 billion years is so sparse.  I believe that can be incorporated in the Science classroom when we do the history of the atom as well as the cell. Then we began discussing the weather, and then actually creating our own weather PowerPoint.  I enjoyed this; however, I think that we did it in reverse order. If had created our own PPT prior to yesterday's visit we could have presented our own weather report while in the green room. After lunch, we worked on our Art Projects.  We laid down the foundation pieces by doing the watercolors.  We also printed our images in preparation for drawing and cutting out the template on tomorrow. Finally, we had a presentation by Nick about Native Americans, and how they have been portrayed in history.

Day Twenty

.... We've come to the end of the road. Today is the last day for the regular session.  We spent the day doing our presentations and awards.  Can't wait until we return on September 30. Have a great new school year!!!
